At Carolina Law we know that, for most prospective law students, considering how to pay for a legal education can be intimidating. I already posted a brief overview of our financial aid programs on the admitted students blog, but I thought I might share with you a little more about our Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP). LRAP assists graduates in legal public service careers with law school debt.
Since 2010, Carolina Law's LRAP has awarded over $1.1 million of assistance to over 110 alumni in 15 states. Already this spring we have heard from admitted students who are pleasantly surprised at the amount of debt relief we are able to provide our graduates who pursue legal public service careers.
For those of you interested in pursuing a career in public service, LRAP may just be the solution you are looking for regarding debt management. I heard from a couple of our alumni, and they agreed to share their thoughts on the program with you:
"As the father of 3 young children, the generous loan repayment assistance that I have received from this program has both substantially lightened one of my family's significant monthly financial burdens and enabled me to pursue a legal career in public service."
--Daniel Golonka, Class of 2007
Agency Legal Specialist, North Carolina Industrial Commission
"Receiving loan repayment assistance from LRAP has enabled me to focus on my career, not my student loans. It's great to be a part of an institution that values and rewards a commitment to public service."
--Allison Standard, Class of 2009
Post-Conviction Attorney, North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services
If you have any questions about LRAP or any other financial aid options, feel free to contact me – that's why I'm here. I welcome the opportunity to work with you.
