Although the trip presented several challenges and frustrations, I enjoyed every moment of it.

I’ve now gone on several will-drafting retreats across the state of North Carolina, but I suspect this will be the most memorable. There are multiple reasons for this. For one, I am starting to feel comfortable with the entire drafting process—not only compiling documents and spotting potential issues, but also conducting the client interviews, explaining complex documents and concepts, and generally communicating with clients.

I also thoroughly enjoyed all of the people I worked with. It was really fun to interact with the 1L class. The Legal Aid attorneys were a great resource, and Meriwether and Dorsey were great at keeping us on track. Without the Pro Bono program and Legal Aid running these wills retreats, I really would have missed out on a major part of me legal education. And, although the trip presented several challenges and frustrations, I enjoyed every moment of it.
