Making Connections

The most fulfilling part of the trip so far was sitting down with our first client. My teammate and I, though confident about our abilities to converse and go through the drafting process, I think we were both nervous about how we would be received. A few minutes into our conversation I realized how relaxed the atmosphere was, our clients demeanor softened and she completely opened up to us. I was so glad that we were able to achieve her goals, but I was most pleased with the fact that this woman trusted us and opened up to us about her life outside of the drafting. By the end of our meeting, I felt like I had made a real connection with our client and that meant a lot to me. I'm looking forward to making more connections as the trip progresses; with our clients, with my teammates and with our supervising attorneys.
